About us

My passion for desserts began when I was just 12 years old, making strawberries and cream and frappes after school. That early joy of creating something sweet grew with me, leading me to study Gastronomy and Tourism in Colombia, where I graduated at the age of 19.

That same year, I moved to the United States with my three-year-old son, Juan José. Becoming a mother shaped not only my life, but my purpose. He became my greatest inspiration—my reason to build a business that allowed me to create, provide for my family, and still be fully present in their lives.

Years later, my journey grew alongside my daughter, Amaïa, whose gentle curiosity and joy remind me daily why I believe in creating warm, meaningful spaces where families feel welcome, connected, and at home.

With the unwavering support of my husband, Leonardo, who has always believed in my talent and potential, I dared to turn my passion into a dream.

That dream also carries the memory of Tinto, our beloved dog, whose name—so deeply tied to the way we call coffee in Colombia—inspired TINTO’s café. A place born from love, memory, and roots, where coffee, pastries, and stories come together.

Today, MJ Sweet and Cake and TINTO’s café represent more than desserts and coffee. They are a reflection of family, heritage, resilience, and the beauty of creating with heart.
